Malted Milks at a 1940s Diner!

Many of these old gems date back to the 1920s and haven't been renovated since the 40s and 50s! The other day my wife and I were in The Lexington Ave Candy Shop! It's like going back in time. Just a good old fashioned diner and a great cup of coffee. Here's a list of some of the best in the city. Check them out before they go away.

High Line Park

http://www.fun4kidsnyc.com/High%20line/high-line-f.jpgI know it's been a little hot lately but the High Line is a wonderful stroll on a summer night. The beautifully landscaped park was created from an elevated railway trestle that had been unused for 30 years. They were gonna tear it down but decided to create this amazing public space. You can start at 14th street and 10th ave in the Meat Packing District and easily walk to 34th Street with great elevated views all along the way. You wont believe how cool this is.

Happy Birthday Brooklyn Bridge!

https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFpCEIZHZHWonKj_3q46xgDp7xUJspfCMdWEIwpTJjkwpDkyVK3Fb2Iy8lDWi3ysyqh_2SiDZABh1OXuejA2dsVibE8fUeBFy9yHoazfyrAW7faxwKQLRbU5HOTj-a94zS0LDX_yvYL-Zk/s1600/brooklyn-new-york.jpgThe greatest Bridge in the world just turned 129! John Roebling's erection still stands! The Brooklyn Bridge is one of the oldest suspension bridges in the United States and the longest in the world when it was completed in 1883. John Roebling hated the ferry service and was determined to build this bridge, but in an ironic twist of fate while surveying the site, a ferry came into the dock and crushed his foot against the piling! He developed a tetanus infection and died, leaving his son Washington Roebling to build the bridge. Washington also developed a paralyzing injury when he developed "caisson disease", better known as the Bends. His wife Emily then took over, relaying messages and specifications from the incapacitated Washington to the workers. A truly amazing story or fortitude and determination. HBBB!

Freedom Continues to Rise. Like a Phoenix from the Ashes

I feel so privileged to be able to give tours every day down around Ground Zero. I've watched the tower grow every day but I was amazed to see it from Newark Liberty Airport so clearly in the skyline! This is a great website that gives up to date info. If you haven't been here to see it, put it on your list.

New Free Public Art Exhibit in Times Square

http://nyogalleristny.files.wordpress.com/2012/05/image572598.jpgPeople watching is not the only FREE thing you can do in Times Square! There are lots of interesting free things to do if you veer of the beaten path. Check out this new art exhibit on 8th Ave and 46th Street. The stained glass star statues sound much more interesting than their last exhibit...oil derricks!
